This client was seeking a fresh color palate and a unique design for their master bedroom retreat. With a love of light fresh greens and deep rich plum they wanted a romantic feeling with distinctive accents. They wanted custom accents to bring life to both the bedroom, sitting area and bathroom.
The design process started with the fabric selection. They wanted something with soft flowing lines and an elegant feel. After finding a specific pattern they fell in love with, it was used as an inspiration for the design of the rest of the space. The bedding was kept simple, with textures and pops of color. A custom bed runner was made for the end of the bed to add a layer of design while also keeping their feet extra warm in the evenings. A custom headboard was made to coordinate with some of the lines in the clients’ favorite fabric. With soft curves in the iron and a border of rich wood, it was the perfect combination of masculine elements into a more feminine design style.
The other furniture pieces were no exception. The nightstands and dresser were also custom made to coordinate with the headboard. Rich woods were used with custom iron accents on the drawer fronts. An iron framed bench was used at the end of the bed to bring in that element as well as keep it looking more light and airy to showcase the textured fabrics on the bench, pillows and bedding.
The windows were framed with green silk swag treatments and working drapery panels in the print fabric to open and close for sun protection and privacy. The floors and ceiling were also used as a canvas for the distinctive design details our client wanted. A shaped and carved inlay carpet design was made for around the master bed. It gave the bed an anchor and emulated the colors and design in their beloved fabric. To mirror the shape of the rug, a custom mural was painted on the ceiling. With intricate detail and rich colors our client would love lying in bed and looking at the beautiful design.
The retreat sitting area was also designed to coordinate with the unique style of the master bedroom. Rich velvet fabrics were used on a large chaise, while a custom ottoman was made for additional seating and for both of our clients to lounge in the space. The windows here were dressed like the rest of the master bedroom and the accessories throughout the room brought whimsical florals and lush greeneries to dress in the other decorative pieces.
Going into the master bathroom, there were only a few things the client wanted to change. They wanted a custom tile mosaic in the shower and also a unique tile design on the floor. We brought in specially made tile designs to coordinate with the fabric that brought this space together. This made a unique pop in the light stone travertine around it. Just outside the bathtub we created a runner with the tile design and added a custom area rug to work with it. Getting out of the tub you would have the softness of the rug while looking into the bathroom you would see the runner effect created by the flooring.
Our client was thrilled with the results of their space. Although unique, it was what they had envisioned for their home. After taking the time to learn what they wanted and implement their personalities into the design, they knew that they had made a good choice!
